How the Rx works: (you all may know, I posted anyw

We all know you go to the doctor and they give you a prescription. (Some areas a pharmacist & nurse practitioner can prescribe to an extent) Then you go to a pharmacist who will fill your script and your on your merry way. Seems pretty simple right? It is and should be. Your paying health insurance which made its own deal w/a PBM or owns it's own, which manages your pharmacy prescription benefits. They won't allow you to get early refills as well as dictate the price you pay (Co-pay) out of pocket for your script. As I read up on sam the man I believe it looks like he is dealing w/specialty pharmaceuticals which means he's compounding as well as offering services the major chains won't have at each pharmacy. This is a growing sector w/in the healthcare system and has been for years. Major chains are buying these up looking for the next edge in the market, or just to control market share. All paid for by your PBM which your insurance company chose for you. The bottom line is the insurance company "own" this business dictating everything from price & who you can work with, like their preferred doctors & pharmacies. To this I say kudos to the FITX team or get into the insurance game, as it seems to start w/a car insurance look it can turn into something much, much bigger!
