And this Robert Shaw thing. At best a bad hire, at worst a foreboding signal.
Guy gets hired into a key spot in an exciting, fast-growth company. Can take this opportunity as far as his talents allow. What happened? After a few months there was time to see how things worked and where it was going. Did he see China as the one road to success? Did he get another offer he couldn't refuse? Who knows but it's simply one more red flag. Jesus Christo!
From another perspective, who hired him and why? Was management's intent to fill an important slot temporarily till the pro IR company could be hired? Was this understood with him from the start? Are they just grabbing anyone who shows interest w/o any vetting? I spent a lot of time in HR. OK, a young company going 20 directions all at once will make mistakes. This is the best spin.
