Welcome to the SIRG board and looks like you have already done some research.
SIRG was required to submit an EA not a full EIS so that is a plus.
There is a much larger open pit copper mine that was operating without permits just 2.8 miles east of SIRG's mine. And there is another mine that was operating without permites just east and above the town of Chloride.
BLM got caught with failing to do their jobs on both these mines, failure to do proper inspections, etc. So SIRG got put under the microscope due tot hese other failures!
The EA was submitted to BLM on July 27th and they had 30 days to review and comment. Each department must sign off and two of them had signed off months ago. We don't know what the current delay is but appears SIRG's application is gathering dust on someone's desk!
Not sure what takes so long, but doubt it is water table rights. There are several wells on the property and SIRG can purchase additional water from the local water company.
