United Cannabis Corp Appoints Earnest Blackmon as President and Interim Chief Executive Officer; Adds John C. Hunter to Advisory Board
DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Jun 24, 2014) - United Cannabis Corp (OTCQB: CNAB) (the "Company" or "United Cannabis" today announced that the Board of Directors has appointed Earnest Blackmon to President and Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, and will continue the role as Chairman of the Board. Paul Enright, who served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer, will take the position of Vice President of Business Development.
Earnest Blackmon is a horticulturalist and entrepreneur with over 20 years' experience, including 5 years in the Commercial Cannabis Industry. Mr. Blackmon is also an owner and the master grower at River Rock Colorado in addition to his duties at United Cannabis. Mr. Blackmon has developed a proprietary grow method based on an organic standard to aid in stable chemical synthesis to limit side reactions that diminish yield. Mr. Blackmon's skill with operations, project management, quality control and cultivation ensure that every United Cannabis sponsored production facility will produce consistent high-grade organic cannabis to meet the demands of its patients.

United Cannabis also appointed John C. Hunter, III to the advisory board. United Cannabis will be looking to Mr. Hunter and his background in the Chemical Industry for guidance in the following areas: Strategy Development, Organizational Design, and Public Company Governance; as well as any issues or opportunities the executive team feels could benefit from his talents and expertise.
John C. Hunter, III has over 40 years of global chemical industry experience. He began his career in 1969 with Monsanto Company, and for the next three decades held positions of increasing responsibility in areas such as engineering, sales, and management. He was appointed Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, for the Specialty Chemicals Division of Monsanto Chemical Company in 1989, and Vice President and General Manager, Fibers Division and Asia-Pacific for the Chemicals Group, an operating unit of Monsanto Company, in 1993. Mr. Hunter became President of the Fibers Business Unit in 1995. In September 1997, Monsanto spun off its chemicals business as Solutia Inc., and Mr. Hunter was appointed its President and Chief Operating Officer. He became President and Chief Executive Officer in May of 1999, and added the role of Chairman of the Board on December 1, 1999. Mr. Hunter retired as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Solutia in 2004. Mr. Hunter is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Penford Corporation and Energizer Holdings, Inc. He received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
