Miller Energy Resources Announces Plans for the Strategic Sale of Tennessee Assets and Program to Reduce G&A

KNOXVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Jun 24, 2014) - Miller Energy Resources, Inc. ("Miller" or "the Company") ( NYSE : MILL ) today announced plans to divest its Tennessee assets, and has engaged in strategic discussions to that end. In addition, the Company has commenced implementation of an internal restructuring and cost reduction program designed to reduce annual general and administrative expenses by $3 to $5 million.

"The targeted reduction is aggressive, but, we think, appropriate and achievable, driven in large part by the elimination of our Tennessee operations and the favorable resolution of several outstanding lawsuits and the recent proxy contest," said Scott M. Boruff, Miller's CEO. "While we still believe Tennessee has significant growth potential, our capital is clearly better allocated to our Alaskan operations and the investment opportunities that exist there."

"The combination of our new revolving credit facility, planned divestiture, cost-cutting measures and recently announced acquisition in the North Slope demonstrates our clear commitment to growing shareholder value by focusing on the tremendous assets and opportunities we have in Alaska," stated David Voyticky, President of Miller Energy. "We are committed to increasing EBITDA through increased production and reduced costs, and positioning Miller as a uniquely attractive pure play exploration and production company. To paraphrase the Alaskan state motto, at Miller we are looking north to the future."
