NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2014) - A newly constructed public access fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station built, operated and maintained by Trillium CNG™ is now open in Nashville.
Located at the Pacific Pride station at 402 North First Street approximately one mile south of the I-65 and I-24 split, the station will serve as the primary southeast fueling location for Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Paper Transport's 100 vehicle natural gas powered fleet.
"We recognized the need to offer customers a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel alternative and are pleased to partner with Trillium CNG on the opening," said Rob Jewell, vice president for Tri Star Energy, which owns the Pacific Pride station. "CNG fleets travelling these corridors -- as well as local fleets -- now have a conveniently located option open 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
The environmental benefits* of natural gas fuel are myriad, including approximately 20-25 percent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, up to 50 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions, 70-90 percent reductions in carbon monoxide emissions and 67-94 percent lower in particulate-matter emissions.
According to Citi Research** the natural gas adoption rates by commercial trucks will be constrained by the lack of infrastructure and are estimated to be in the 5-15 percent range over the next five years. Much of the growth will come from dense freight corridors near major population centers. In the next two years, it is estimated that 150 - 200 public access CNG stations will open nationally, with as many as 400 stations per year opening from 2016 - 2020.

The station, which is open to all vehicles that use compressed natural gas, uses a public access card reader system and is designed to allow easy access in and out by heavy-duty fleet trucks. The two dual hose dispensers allow two semitrailers to fuel at the same time, and features Trillium CNG's proprietary fast-fill hydraulic intensifier compressor.

A grand opening including a ribbon cutting, station tour and fueling demonstration, and lunch was held June 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Members of Middle Tennessee Clean Fuels, government officials and fleets interested in learning more about CNG joined Tri Star Energy and Trillium CNG at the event.
