VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 18, 2014) - TELUS (TSX:T)(NYSE:TU) announced that the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) has honoured the company by passing a motion to officially endorse TELUS WISE (Wise Internet and Smartphone Education), a unique educational program focused on helping Canadian families stay safe online. To date, the TELUS WISE program has reached more than 300,000 Canadians.
Members of the CACP Board of Directors will encourage policing services within their jurisdictions to utilise the TELUS WISE program across the country and make the program materials and resources available to families in their communities.

TELUS WISE materials will be available to policing services nationally upon request over the next few months. Materials are also available via other TELUS WISE partners including: the Amanda Todd Foundation , Bullying.org , Canadian Centre for Child Protection , Hockey Canada , MediaSmarts , and PREVNet .

The TELUS WISE program has two tailored components - one aimed at adults interested in helping them and their families remain safer online; the second called TELUS WISE footprint which appeals directly to youth. TELUS regularly schedules free, in-person public TELUS WISE seminars in communities across the country led by specially-trained TELUS team members at convenient public locations. Groups of ten or more people are also encouraged to book their own seminars in the workplace, at a community centre, in a school, at a parenting group or senior's centre. Individuals can also book a one-on-one session with trained team members at more than 200 TELUS stores nationwide. TELUS WISE and TELUS WISE footprint educational material is also available on a secure TELUS WISE portal for anyone interested in self-education on the safe use of smartphones, tablets and computers.
