This is just a guess (although it makes sense) I do not know Google's and Ntek's arrangement!
But it only makes sense that Google said, you can use these parts and try and make a working system, or prototype to be produced. (I would imagine that approval was implied, if the bugs were fixed)
Why would David spend his time building something with parts, that after making a working product, it could just be shot down!
The Ultraflix and 4K seem to be another possibility based on Sony, and the World Cup being broadcast in 4K.
