Very nice idea! Every cash dividend would send the SP to new highs and burn the shorts. Your idea of a cash dividend for common shareholders only would be even nicer as it would cost a lot less and bring the SP higher! But, as I said, I would be happy with every cash dividend to burn the shorts!
