Whether or not we can "track" 706 through FlightAware through her maintenance checks matters not to me - the bottom line is that Kalitta Maintenance isn't going to spit out a dud. 706 WILL be airworthy. If she weren't airworthy, the level of maintenance that she just went through would have identified that (at least) a month ago. I feel it necessary to remind those who read this post that test flights are completely routine and are truthfully no different than a car mechanic driving a vehicle around the block after completing a repair. Getting everything perfect the first time never happens. They will fly 706, identify things that need "tweaking," and they will rectify it. It will likely take a number of flights to ensure that everything is perfect. Kalitta is no second rate operation - we can rest assured that 706 will be put back into service meeting only the highest standards.
Keep in mind that reinstallation of the engines is one of the FINAL steps here - this means that we are closer than many ever thought that we would be. I am so pumped about this news that I'm in for another big bid on Monday - believe it or not, the certification process is happening. Remember that this is yet another step in the process that the FAA put their seal of approval on - they are playing ball with us big time... do you want to be on the sidelines?
