Stock futures up; jobless claims, durables awaited
FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock index futures pointed to a solidly higher start for Wall Street Thursday as investors awaited another heavy round of corporate earnings — including results from Apple Inc. due after the closing bell — as well as data on weekly jobless claims and durable-goods orders.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (CBOT JZ2) rose 64 points, or 0.5%, to 13,085.
S&P 500 Index futures (GLC:SPZ2) gained 8.3 points to 1,413.60, while Nasdaq-100 futures (CME:NDZ2) advanced 18.25 points to 2,668.75
The rise comes after U.S. stocks drifted to a lower close Wednesday after momentum behind an early upside push faded away.
