The administrators of the compound are struggling to properly characterize a phenomenon in each of the three first cohort patients. Although not considered any form of toxicity at this time, each patient experiences a sense of euphoria and perma-grin. This is hypothesized to be a chemical response in the brain releasing a large number of endorphins when patients realize they are, for the first time in a long time, likely to survive.
