The New York Times reported that one of the biggest benefits of sponsoring a race team is gaining business from other businesses. "One of the highest returns for companies' investments actually comes not from consumers but from other companies," they wrote. Sponsors typically drive business to one another, often with tremendous results. Mark Dickens , a U.P.S. spokesman, said that when the company first became a sponsor it conducted business with only 40 percent of the other sponsors, but increased that to over 90 percent today.
