TV Everywhere seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment. Is the cherished goal finally in sight of all content on all devices, anywhere and any time?
According to Time Warner, the definition of TV is now video on every screen, on-demand, no charges and no extras. It unfolds the fulfilment of the TV Everywhere promise.
We see the same glimmer on the horizon in Europe: unchaining content from the TV set!
What benefits would this ubiquity of content provide to TV operators like Orange?
Mobile is our remote control for life: wallet, keys, health consultants, and soon fingerprints. Mobile turns out to be our first screen.
Orange works hard to make mobile video a seamless experience at home, where people consume in various rooms, and on the go.
This will include the roll-out at a fast pace of 4G networks, ensuring unrivalled quality of service, and making flexible content bundles available.
What do you think are consumers’ biggest frustrations with current TV Everywhere services?
Everything should be made available in three forms: as a live stream, on-demand and as sync-and-go, where you can download content securely and take it with you.
Besides, context should follow you: connecting your tablet to a TV in any room and having the same viewing experience you have at home, a ‘portable TV’.
A corollary of TV Everywhere is the rise of social TV. Do you see these two worlds merging on the phone or tablet?
Mash ups between mobile and TV spawn new way of consuming entertainment, news, user engagement and feedback, with the stunning rise of second-screen apps and Social TV.
We see merging ‘one-screen’ experience happening on tablet: Orange or newcomer SimulTV have ploughed the innovation land.
