Akerman's Samantha Schosberg Feuer Elected Circuit Court Judge of Palm Beach County

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 29, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced that Samantha Schosberg Feuer , of counsel with the firm's Labor and Employment and Litigation Practice Groups in West Palm Beach, was elected Circuit Court Judge for Palm Beach County on May 2.

"I am truly honored by the amount of support I received by Akerman throughout the campaign," said Feuer. "My success would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues and the dedication of so many other leaders across our community. I look forward to serving the community as circuit court judge."

Feuer concentrates her practice at Akerman on complex commercial litigation with a focus on representation of clients in the investigation and litigation of complex fraud and civil racketeering and related matters. She also has experience in the investigation and defense of employment litigation for management including non-compete agreements, theft of trade secrets and discrimination in the workplace.

Feuer has a long career of public service with experience in the federal and state courts. She previously worked for the Office of the Florida Attorney General where she served as the Chief of the South Florida Bureau, Consumer Protection Unit. While there, Feuer investigated and prosecuted economic crime and fraud, in conjunction and collaboration with the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Attorney's office. Feuer also served as an assistant state attorney in both West Palm Beach and Miami.

Recognized for her support in advancing women in the legal profession, Feuer is past president for the Florida Association of Women Lawyers and the recipient of the organization's 2013 Annual Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente Award. She is also co-founder of the Women's Foundation of Palm Beach County and former co-chair of the Diversity Sub Committee for the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and an active leader of various other community organizations and legal professional groups in Palm Beach County.

Feuer announced her intention to run for circuit court judge at a press conference in Palm Beach County in January 2014. During a rigorous 5-month campaign, Feuer assembled a countywide steering committee and connected with hundreds of local government leaders, business executives and other key community stakeholders across the county. She won the Palm Beach County circuit judgeship without opposition on May 2. Her term will begin in January 2015.
