The Grand Sierra Resort has entered into a 30-year lease agreement to support development of the venue, which is set to include 32 courts, moveable walls, LED-lighted floors and a 600-seat stadium. jogoReno is currently in its funding phase and will begin construction in the fall of 2014.
Anticipated to be the only facility of its kind in the world, jogoReno will be built on Grand Sierra Resort property but owned by the facility's managing partners and key shareholders. The Grand Sierra Resort is a 2,000-room casino resort featuring more than 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, an aqua driving range, bowling alley, movie theater, 11 restaurants and cafes, and five bars and lounges. In addition to visitor volume to the Grand Sierra Resort and northern Nevada as a whole, jogoReno notes positive growth in court sports participation as a key factor in its business plan. According to a 2012 study from the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), the number of core players in sports such as squash, badminton, table tennis and indoor soccer have increased substantially with 27, 18, 19 and 10 percent growth, respectively. Add to that the fact that the number of health club members in America increased by nearly 25 percent from 2007 to 2012, and jogoReno is confident in its future success.
