Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/vjlj88/antibacterial) has announced the addition of the "Antibacterial Drugs Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2013 - 2019" report to their offering. AstraZeneca plc, Bayer AG, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Eli Lilly and Company, Forest Laboratories, Inc., GlaxoSmithKline plc, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., Inc., Novartis AG, Pfizer, Inc., and Sanofi are the major players engaged in the development, production and marketing of various antibacterial drugs. The global antibacterial drugs market has been categorized into seven segments based on their class, namely, aminoglycosides, ?-lactams, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, quinolones/ fluoroquinolones, macrolides and phenicols. In 2012, ?-lactams class occupied the leading position with a share of 57.1% of the global antibacterial drugs market followed by the quinolones. However, these drug classes are expected to witness decline in their market share during the forecast period due to patent expiry of key branded formulations and growing number of drug resistant bacterial strains. Hence, on account of the above mentioned factors, the global antibacterial drugs market is expected to witness slow growth during the forecast period 2013 to 2019. However, growing demand for therapies against bacterial infections and rising elderly populations are some of the factors that are anticipated to maintain steady growth of the antibacterial drugs market. Additionally, expected launch of various antibacterial agents that are currently in developmental stages, such as tedizolid (Cubist Pharmaceuticals), Dalvance (Durata Therapeutics), surotomycin (Cubist Pharmaceuticals), MK-3415A (Merck) during the forecast period is also expected to restore growth of this market. Key Topics Covered: Chapter 1 Preface Chapter 2 Executive Summary Chapter 3 Market Overview Chapter 4 Global Antibacterial Drugs Market Revenue, by Class, 2011 - 2019 (USD Million) Chapter 5 Global Antibacterial Drugs Market Revenue, Pipeline Analysis (USD Million) Chapter 6 Global Antibacterial Drugs Market Revenue, by Geography, 2011 - 2019 (USD Million) Chapter 7 Competitive Landscape Chapter 8 Recommendations Chapter 9 Company Profiles - AstraZeneca plc - Bayer AG - Bristol-Myers Squibb Company - Eli Lilly and Company - Forest Laboratories, Inc. - GlaxoSmithKline plc - Johnson & Johnson - Merck & Co., Inc. - Novartis AG - Pfizer, Inc. - Sanofi For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/vj...ibacterial

Cardiovascular Devices - Growth Opportunities In Emerging Markets
M2 - Mon May 26, 9:44AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/94l67n/cardiovascular) has announced the addition of the "Cardiovascular Devices - Growth Opportunities In Emerging Markets" report to their offering. A timely and unique growth opportunity exists for cardiovascular device manufacturers seeking to offset some of the tepid or declining growth they have been experiencing in the US and Western European markets. As a result, multinational cardiovascular device companies have been increasing their investments in emerging nations - and they are reaping the rewards, with demand for some cardiovascular devices increasing at solid double-digit rates in many emerging countries, including the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) and Turkey. Combined, these five emerging countries performed an estimated 2.2 million cardiovascular procedures in 2013 - including interventional cardiology procedures, cardiothoracic surgeries (eg, CABG surgery, heart valve procedures, congenital heart disease procedures, and procedures for aortic aneurysms), and cardiac rhythm management procedures (eg, pacemaker/defibrillator implantations and cardiac ablations) - and that number is projected to increase to more than 3.5 million by 2017, a compound annual growth rate of about 13%. China alone is responsible for nearly 60% of that total (about 1.3 million procedures in 2013) and also offers the highest growth rate of the five over the forecast period (16.8%). This dynamic, new report offers a detailed look at the most promising future growth opportunities for cardiovascular device companies in the BRIC nations and Turkey. Included are analyses and comparisons of cardiovascular procedure volumes, growth rates, and market drivers/limiters for each country covered. The report also provides an overview of multinational cardiovascular device company strategies for penetrating these markets as well as an assessment of next-generation technologies, including "leadless" pacemakers and defibrillators and bioresorbable coronary stents, and their potential to further expand growth in emerging market regions. Selective JAK Inhibitors for Rheumatoid Arthritis
M2 - Fri May 23, 8:16AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/8xkpbw/selective_jak) has announced the addition of the "Selective JAK Inhibitors for Rheumatoid Arthritis" report to their offering. The role of Janus kinases (JAKs) in mediating inflammation and autoimmunity suggested that they would be appropriate targets for intervention in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). JAKs are a family of intracellular, non-receptor protein tyrosine kinases that transduce cytokine-mediated signals via the JAK-STAT pathway. Pfizer's tofacitinib (Xeljanz) was launched in 2012 for patients with moderate to severe RA. The drug is an oral JAK inhibitor with specificity for JAK1 and JAK2 but with residual activity for JAK2 - leading to some significant safety concerns. Safety risks associated with tofacitinib are related to its activity as an immunosuppressant, effects on hematopoietic blood cells, and modulation of cholesterol levels - all important in managing RA. So far tofacitinib's revenues have disappointed. Selective JAK inhibitors, all oral, in current development for RA and described in the report are: - Baricitinib (Incyte Corporation, Eli Lilly) - INCB39110 (Incyte Corporation) - ASP-015K (Astellas, Johnson & Johnson) - GLPG0634 (Galapagos) - ABT-494 (AbbVie) - VX-509 (Vertex) - A next generation oral specific JAK1 or JAK3 inhibitor, with superior efficacy and/or better safety profile than tofacitinib, will have a better chance of capturing significant market share in the second-line >$3 billion TNF inhibitor market. Key Topics Covered: Rheumatoid Arthritis - Disease mechanisms - Role of JAKs in Autoimmunity - Current treatments Tofacitinib (Xeljanz) - Pharmacology - Clinical Efficacy - Clinical Safety - Disappointing sales thus far Second generation JAK inhibitors - Baricitinib (Incyte Corporation and Eli Lilly) - INCB39110 (Incyte Corporation) - ASP-015K (Astellas and JNJ) - GLPG0634 (Galapagos and AbbVie) - ABT-494 (AbbVie) - VX-509 (Vertex) Clinical and regulatory Discussion Regulatory Issues Market opportunity - Comparative Efficacy for JAK Inhibitors Summary opinion - How does the Xeljanz experience inform the development of second generation JAK inhibitors? - How will the second generation JAK inhibitors be differentiated? Intercept Pharmaceuticals' Obeticholic Acid for Liver Diseases Report
M2 - Fri May 23, 2:03AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/bfcxg8/intercept) has announced the addition of the "Intercept Pharmaceuticals' Obeticholic Acid for liver diseases" report to their offering. Obeticholic acid (OCA) is a derivative of chenodeoxycholic acid, the dominant component of bile. It is a potent stimulator of farnesoid X receptor and in that way differs both from chenodeoxycholic acid and ursodeoxycholic acid (URSO), another bile acid used therapeutically. Intercept is developing OCA for use in a variety of liver diseases. Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), an orphan inflammatory disease of bile ducts, is the lead indication. But non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a liver disorder that substantively overlaps with the epidemiology and pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome is close behind. Intercept has also initiated/reported pilot efforts in bile acid diarrhea (BAD), acute alcoholic hepatitis, and portal hypertension. This initiation report explores these programs in depth, including the underlying rationale for use and a review of the phase II data in the lead PBC and NASH indications. It also explores issues related to the later phase trials for those indications, including the selection of endpoints. In PBC and especially in NASH, the ability to identify those who will have poor long-term outcomes (and thus would benefit from therapy) is difficult. Thus, endpoint selection and FDA's acceptance of data showing impact on those measures becomes a central issue when assessing the probabilities of regulatory success. The report also reviews the rationale and available data from the other programs and also looks at the competitive landscapes for each. Key Topics Covered: 1. Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) - The disease - Phase II, including long-term extension data (ICPT 2013 10-K) - POISE - Accelerated Approval in PBC and surrogates of transplant-free survival - Will one study be enough? - In summary 2. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) - NAFLD and NASHa brief review - Phase II study in diabetic NAFLD - The FLINT study - Endpoint issues and approval pathways for NASH - Update on lipid changes in phase II studies of fatty liver 3. Update on other indications 4. Summary opinion - PBC - NASH - Other indications Companies Mentioned - Albireo - Antipodean Pharmaceuticals - Intercept Pharmaceuticals - Johnson & Johnson - Kotobuki Pharmaceuticals - NovImmune - Phenex For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/bfcxg8/intercept About Research and Markets Research and Markets is the world's leading source for international market research reports and market data.
