CreAgri Commitment to Neuroprotection Grows With Sponsorship to Major International Meeting About Prions and Alzheimer

HAYWARD, Calif., May 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Furthering its investment the area of neuroinflammation and neuroprotection CreAgri is focusing upon a number of close relationships with selected research and academic institutions. The first opportunity for such collaborations comes via the sponsorship of "Biophysics of Amyloids and Prions", an international scientific meeting on neuroprotection scheduled for May 25 -26 at Naples' (Italy) Castel dell'Ovo to which CreAgri participates with a poster presentation about the role of and a featured talk by Dr. Roberto Crea, its founder and CEO.

The product of a collaborative effort between the University of California San Francisco and the University Federico Secondo of Naples, "Biophysics of Amyloids and Prions" will provide CreAgri an occasion to compare and contrast its findings with the research conducted at world premier institutions by eminent scientists such as Nobel Laureate Prof. Stanley Prusiner and small molecules and protein design expert Dr. William De Grado, as well as an opportunity for developing new lines of inquiry in collaboration with researchers worldwide.

CreAgri, Inc, a leader in the production of olive polyphenols for health and wellness has been at the forefront of initiatives proposing the use olive polyphenols to provide support to people affected by neurological dysfunctions since its inception. Indeed already in 2001 a small unpublished study conducted at the University of California San Francisco with patients suffering of HIV induced dementia reported that they felt more alert cognitively when assuming Hidrox, CreAgri's proprietary formulation of olive polyphenols. Moreover an in vitro study carried out in collaboration with Sunnyvale's Parkinson's Institute confirmed Hidrox's ability to forestall neuro-inflammation in a Parkinson's model. More recently CreAgri's R&D in neuroprotective applications of Hidrox have advanced with a Mount Sinai Hospital's unpublished study supporting the use of Hidrox to quench inflammation and to reduce oligomerization of tau proteins as well as the formation of amyloid plaques, while an animal model study conducted by Boston based Phylonix Laboratory and targeting the citoxicity of agents that can cause chronic demyelinated lesions similar to those present in multiple sclerosis confirmed the protective effect of Hidrox against cuprizone induced demyelization, and provided indication that Hidrox may stimulate remyelination activity in the brain. In this specific study the proctective action of Hidrox vis-a-vi to hydroxytyrsol was more pronounced.

"Science, technology and nature are in CreAgri's DNA," affirms Dr.Victor Moreno, Senior Adviser to the company. "Hirdox is the product of extraordinary balance between this three elements, its broad spectrum anti-inflammatory activity is already providing adjunctive support to patients and their families worldwide. Our commitment to develop further applications of Hidrox in neuroprotection through collaborative efforts with premier research institutions is unwavering; costumers should expect new and powerful products for health and wellness directed at making their life enjoyable and more productive."

"For more than 5 million of Americans and their families Alzheimer is a daily, devastating reality," adds Dr. Roberto Crea, founder and CEO of CreAgri. "Current pharmacological solution do not provide satisfactory outcomes, compounds such as Hidrox may prove to be a safe, long lasting and natural adjunctive tool in the basket of solutions available today to physicians to treat this debilitating, mind-robbing condition, CreAgri's research confirms beyond doubts a role for Hidrox and olive polyphenols in neuroprotection."
