Sertant to Develop Heavy Water Production

Houston, TX, May 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sertant, Inc. (OTC: STNN), an evolutionary element separation company, is pleased to announce that it has expanded its proprietary PACER technology to include heavy water production.

The Company has determined that its photostimulation electroextraction technology should selectively extract deuterium oxide (heavy water) from naturally occurring water. Heavy water is used in numerous scientific fields including biology, botany, and the nuclear industries. Current methods of extraction are significantly more expensive than is likely the case with the Company's technology. The Company is planning experiments to authenticate its beliefs but has every expectation the experiments will be positive based on experience with the technology.

"We are excited about this project," commented Lawrence Wunderlich, President of Sertant, Inc.  "For a long time we have known that our PACER technology lends itself to a wide range of practical and economical applications from rare earth and precious metal separation to industrial electroplating and waste remediation. Now, Sertant is preparing scientific protocols for experimental heavy water extraction. We envision working with bottled water companies to extract deuterium oxide from their water and in the process produce heavy water byproduct to sell to nuclear power plant operators."

Heavy water is used to moderate nuclear reactors as well as for scientific and commercial purposes. Heavy water is also used as a tracer to study living organisms.Heavy water can sell for a few thousand dollars per gallon in wholesale markets.
