Reminds me of when Ross Perot used multiple agents to purchase a "patchwork" of 13,000 contiguous acres in N. Texas between Roanoke, and I-35.
When he was done, he held a presser and announced he was donating a 400 acre right-of-way to Texas Highway Dept. to build the road they had long sought to connect Hwy. 114 to I-35. It's now a huge industrial corridor which has brought in 100s of millions in new tax revenues, jobs, etc.
