WALTER MINERAL CLAIM
This highly promising two square-kilometer claim is strategically located less than one mile from the world-class Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine operaed by Barrick Gold mine to the East and one mile to the Perilya Gold mine to the South West. Due diligence leads Santo’s team to believe that mineralized trends recently found by Barrick and Perilya likely extend onto the Walter claim. Pueblo Viejo is ranked in the top three gold reserves worldwide, into which Barrick has invested $3.5 Billion–the largest investment in the history of the Dominican State. Barrick has publicly disclosed that the Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine has reserves of 23.7 million ounces of gold and 147.7 million ounces of silver.
Perilya has publicly disclosed that its Cerro de Maimon mine, another of Walter’s nearest neighbors, shows sampling results of 1.76g of gold per ton and 31.1g of silver per ton. Brigus Gold and Falconado Estrata also have successful operations in the near vicinity.
Initial exploration work has been performed. A 2-D exploration campaign will provide data results for gold and other precious and base metals. In addition, base maps, river and stream maps as well as geological charts have been prepared by the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute in the Dominican Republic are avasilable to Santo Mining.
MARIA GOLD CLAIM
Santo Mining Corporation has acquired 100% of the Maria gold exploration claim north of the city of Bonao, in the center of the Dominican Republic. This highly prospective 1,400 Hectare claim is perfectly situated between three massive mineral finds. The first is situated in the Maimon formation of the Hispaniola Volcanic Gold Copper Back-Arc, which is just 200 meters from the northern end of the massive Falconado Xstrata Nickel mine, which according to public disclosures has uncovered 49.6 million tons of nickel at a grade of 1.21%.
The second formation lies just 35 kilometers south east of the Maria claim: Barrick Gold’s 23.7 million ounce Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine, the largest gold find in the western hemisphere and one of the top three gold reserves worldwide, based on public disclosures.
The third close-by formation is 36 kilometers southeast from the Maria claim: Perilya Gold, domestically known as “Cerro de Maimon,” which has gold findings of 1.76 grams/ton and silver findings of 31.10 grams/ton.
The Maria claim is largely uninhabited and consists of junior timber forest used to produce commercial charcoal. Access is excellent as the claim borders the main Dominican North/West Expressway. Initial information suggests very encouraging grams per ton ratio of gold here. The former concessionaire, who forfeited the claim, is reported to have obtained positive results from a preliminary exploration program. Santo Mining’s exploration team is very optimistic about this valuable claim. Base maps, river and stream maps, and new geological charts by Spanish Geological & Mining Institute (IGME) are available and geochemical exploration is underway.
ALEXIA GOLD CLAIM
Santo Mining Corporation has acquired 100% of the Alexia gold exploration claim near Dajabon in the northwest Dominican Republic. The great number of placer and historical gold showings in the area and the variety of mineralization types highlight the exceptional exploration potential for this claim. This highly prospective 11,575 Hectare claim is surrounded in all directions by numerous gold discoveries under continued exploration by the following mining companies:
•Unigold which is only 2,500 meters south of the claim has initial reserves of up to 21.9 g/mt of gold;
•Everton Resources immediately west has showings of 8.17 g/mt gold;
•Newmont/ Eurasian at La Miel is 36 Km from the claim with showings of 2.5 g/mt gold.
•Barrick Gold which is very active has reported publicly that it has proven reserves of 23.7 million ounces of gold and proven reserves of 147.7 Million ounces of silver, making it the largest gold find in the western hemisphere.
Geologically, the claim lies within the same cretaceous volcanic belt as the 23.7 million ounce Pueblo Viejo project. Multi-element anomalies in gold copper and zinc have been identified on this property, with an extensive zone of disseminated sulfides mineralization occurs within the siliceous bedded chert. This area is home to small-scale artisanal mining by locals. The Santo Mining exploration team is planning a comprehensive 2-D investigation scheduled in the near future and remains highly optimistic that it will deliver promising results.
Acquires 100% HENRY Gold Claim
Santo Mining Acquires 100% HENRY Gold Claim in Dominican Republic
Santo Mining Corp. (OTCBB:SANP), (the "Company"), is pleased to announce that it has acquired 100% of the HENRY gold exploration claim (the "HENRY Claim") in the mineral-rich Hispaniola Gold-Copper Back-Arc of the Dominican Republic. This acquisition is part of the Company's aggressive campaign to assemble a heavy-duty portfolio of precious and base metal claims.
The HENRY Claim is a 1,990 hectare claim strategically located less than 8.5 miles northwest of one of the World's largest gold mines, the 25.3-million-ounce Barrick Gold Pueblo Viejo mine, and 3.5 mile northeast of Falcondo Xstrata's massive nickel complex.
The highly prospective polymetallic claim is situated in the heart of the Maimon formation of the Hispaniola Gold-Copper Back-Arc, which is host to several polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide-type deposits, namely the Cerro de Maimon and the Loma Pesada deposits.
According to Company President Al French, "We are optimistic that the upcoming geochemical exploration survey will return positive results for gold and other precious and base metals, as is typical for the immediate area. Meanwhile our goal is to keep the momentum of acquiring a quality claim every week or so."
