A New Day Will Dawn For Those Who Stand Long And The Beaches Will Echo With Laughter…
This is the week!! Countless hours of preparation, in fact it feels like we have been preparing for this week for the past 12 years!! The new Medient – a market focused slate of action, thriller and horror films, the game changing Studioplex and with the industry experience of Atlas will be unveiled to the world on the 15th of May at the Majestic Hotel at Cannes Film Festival.
. The launch of a high voltage action film that will cement our relationship with Tarantella and the industry interface party on the 17th at the (exotic) Plage Vega Luna will follow. As daunting as the week looks it feels like we are ready to move on to the big stage – when we will be recognized not just within the art house film circuit but by the industry as a whole.
Was this what we set out to do when we set up a company in India to create intelligent cinema for an emerging Indian audience which was young, global and not satisfied with traditional Bollywood? I can say with total conviction that we never imagined the route we had to travel – or the momentous point we find ourselves at. And yet, the soul of the company has remained the same – enquiring, questioning, fearless and seeking solutions. As we went from movie to movie through the several countries that we were fortunate to live and work in we were inspired by the idea of Hollywood. The idea that talent prevailed and that content and ideas were empowered. Sadly, as in the other film industries we worked in, Hollywood has also moved on. This is unacceptable and we must reclaim the industry for the artists – the writers, directors and the other inspirational people that create the movies.
This week is the end of the beginning….
