While I agree with most of what you say, dropping the ball when it comes to making unrealistic promises, is wrong yet understandable. Controlling the message when growth is as large as we hope, can be tough when you are just out of the box. Suppose management called for 10000 units and budgeted for that size order. Then suppose one or several high rollers said we will take 20000 with promise of xxx more each. Financing has to be put in to achieve production and the lower food chain folks who pre-ordered out of those first 10000 are now pushed back to a lower priority. Fulfillment now becomes and entirely new headache. PR now must be spun and somebody is going to be pissed off because production and delivery times become an unknown in light of current capability. So everyone scrambles to make happy face while folks are lied to. I believe we are on the edge of global greatness and my little fits of anger and frustration, tho warranted, will make me look like a nitpicking fool shortly.
