The ‘Texas Miracle’ is the envy of the nation.

While God has blessed Texas unlike anywhere else with abundant natural resources that contribute more than $172 billion to the Texas economy, conservative governance has sought to maximize the use of those resources to ensure the Texas economy reaches its full potential.
Oil and gas directly employed over 400,000 employees last year will well-paying jobs averaging $120,000 per year. In 2013, oil and gas producers in our state paid nearly $11.5 billion in royalties to 570,000 families. In the last biennium, oil and gas produced over $24 billion to fund our state’s budget and pressing obligations.
In the State of Texas, the Railroad Commission regulates the energy sector. Unfortunately, because of its deceptive name and low-placement on the ballot, few Texans know or care about who gets elected to this powerful position.
While traveling the state, I have spoken to thousands of Texans on the importance of this commission and why it is absolutely vital to the future of our great state.
I am running for Railroad Commissioner because I believe that the American dream can be achieved if government gets out of the way and allows the free market the flexibility it needs to create jobs.
I served in the Texas House for 14 years and was consistently rated as one of the top conservative leaders in the state by watchdog groups such as Young Conservatives of Texas, Empower Texans and Texas Eagle Forum. As President of the Texas Conservative Coalition, I helped set the legislative agenda and led the fight against tax increases and frivolous regulations.
Throughout my time in the legislature, I served on the committees that had direct oversight of the Texas Railroad Commission, giving me an intimate understanding of the inner workings of the agency and the problems it currently faces. As Vice-Chairman of Regulated Industries and a multi-term member of the Energy Committee, I helped set the policies under which the industry and commission work under today.
One of the main concerns facing the industry right now is Federal Overreach under the current administration. According to the Heritage Foundation, several EPA rules being pushed right now will likely cost the U.S. over 600,000 jobs and a $2.23 TRILLION hit to GDP by the year 2023. Additionally, the Obama Administration has gone rogue with the Endangered Species Act, listing every reptile, bird and plant it can justify to prevent Domestic production and push forward their “green” agenda.
For years I have fought federal overreach legislatively from Al Gore’s Spotted Hoot Owl to filing a Constitutional Amendment to prevent the enforcement of Obamacare in Texas.
Now more than ever, our state needs an experienced conservative fighter to reign in federal overreach and ensure a common sense regulatory environment that will not harm our state’s most vital industry.
America is now the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world, with Texas leading the nation. We are on the cusp of energy independence in our state and if the Feds stay out of the way, we could eliminate our reliance on foreign energy in the near future.
Throughout this race, I have been blessed with unparalleled grassroots support. On Election Day, I received over 42% of the vote, after being outspend 4-1 by my opponent.
So far I have received over 300 endorsements from conservative leaders and organizations including David Barton, Former Republican Party of Texas Chairman Cathie Adams, Young Conservatives of Texas, Texas Right to Life and over a dozen tea parties.
