Fascinating perspective. Willliam F. Buckley, Jr. wrote in the 1960's that intrusive and heavyhanded responses to MJ, as criminal behavior, will never succeed in eradicating demand and make things much worse for our society as a whole, especially, in respect to civil liberties. His view has proven to be correct. Buckley said MJ should be seen, first and last, for what it is: a business providing goods and services to satisfy a demand, hence, a manifestation of free-market capitalism and entrepreneurism. MJ, he said, should therefore be regulated as would a legitimate business where civil, tort and common law apply.
