I was speaking to a friend today in the compounding pharmacy business and learned a tidbit of information. The average RX is $1500 to $3000 (or higher) depending on the number of different products/ingredients used to formulate the cream or gel. This is key, on the bottom of the RX is a section that includes how many "refills" the patient can have filled in a given amount of time. That could be 3 or 4 refills or more, depending on the length of therapy the physician/surgeon deems necessary. In other words, 1 Rx with refills could have a cash value of anywhere between $4500 to $12,000. If for example one plastic surgeon is writing three Rxs/week with 3 refills ($3K @), that one plastic surgeon can potentially generate $27,000 to $36,000 worth of business during a three to four month of time from just three RXs. As SCRC grows their physician/surgeon client base, thinking in terms of weekly/monthly revenues, you can see how quickly this business can grow? It is easy to see how my friends compound pharmacy in Atlanta is generating over $2M each month. As always, GO SCRC!!!
