just remember even though the short volume was 63M shares today, if someone bought this morning and they day traded those shares and sold the same day. Both the sell and buy volume will show as short volume because those shares that were bought in the morning and when sold in the afternoon they are tagged as short because the morning trade had not settled yet. 3 days to settle a trade in equities. If I was to flat out guess, I would say the real short selling volume from actual short sellers was likely well under 30m shares.
