Like A Local Tours Announces New York's Only Flatiron Food and History Tour

NEW YORK, April 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Like A Local Tours specializes in exploring the hippest neighborhoods in New York City and is proud to be adding the Flatiron District to that list with its brand new Flatiron Food and History Tour . Already known for its unique Brooklyn tours, Like A Local is now taking on the newest foodie hotspots in Manhattan. Featuring the restaurants of celebrity chef Mario Batali and renowned restauranteur Danny Meyer, the tour offers a first taste of the artisan food and European/American culinary explosion currently happening within the Flatiron District.

"Something very special is happening between 14th and 30th right in the middle of Manhattan," says Lauren Beebe of Like A Local Tours. "There absolutely has to be a tour there. This is the genesis of an exciting new food movement in a quickly changing and historically relevant part of the city."

The Flatiron tour begins just beyond the reach of the unpredictable winds, caused by the unique location and wedge shape of the iconic Flatiron Building. These mischievous winds have been blowing skirts up and hats off for over a century! Savor not only the fare but also the history of the area with the guided tour from Madison Square Park to the Union Square Greenmarket, featuring a behind-the-scenes tour of the production process at Beecher's Cheese & Breads Bakery--with samples of course.

And don't forget the Sunday Funday Taste of Williamsburg Brooklyn walking tour! NewYork.com says "Like A Local's Taste of Williamsburg: Sunday Funday is just as fab as it sounds: You'll hit all the hot spots in Williamsburg itself, with tastings galore and plenty of shops, street art, food shops and spectacular city views thrown in for good measure."

Like A Local Tours shirks the traditional tour routine by offering a more intimate and exclusive experience of New York's trendiest neighborhoods. Each excursion is led by a New York City resident who cannot wait to share their cultural experience and knowledge with you while also taking time to discuss the latest food trends. Booking and information about private or group tours are available on their website.
