Baltia Airlines (OTCQB: BLTA), the only company undergoing Part 121 Air Carrier Certification, may be able to take advantage of performing domestic proving flights, rather than needing to fly to St. Petersburg for getting certified. After Phase III, there remain two tasks: proving flights, and certification. Certification is generally just an administrative process, whereas the proving flights are exactly what their name implies. Baltia must prove to the FAA that it is capable of flying their B747 airplane. According to the FAA’s website: “The proving flight portion of the observation and evaluation consists of en route flights and other acceptable flights.”(Source link below)
It is sometimes acceptable for the proving flights to be to a destination other than the route the company plans on flying. In Baltia’s case, a flight to California or other West coast regions isn’t at all out of the question. Another major fact about the proving flights is that they must be completed within a 7-day period, which is likely not prone to delays or re-scheduling at this point. As of the current schedule, it seems the proving flights will be done sometime in late May/early June.
