That's exactly right. As your link shows, Matt Brown and others traded just to create the impression of volume. What it doesn't say is that Mr. Brown also actively controlled the IHub message boards for those stocks he was pumping--he was the guy who started and ran IHub for anyone who doesn't know. Positive press releases, increased trading volume and glowing posts on IHub for those stocks got penny stock investors to buy and then Mr. Brown and others unloaded shares on them. It wasn't "short and distort."
But don't anyone dare post about IHub's criminal activity on IHub...that will get you banned as they are actively trying to suppress that information. I posted about the criminal activity on SI which was also owned by ADVFN at the time and I was immediately banned from both IHub and SI. After SI changed hands, I was let back on.
