U.S. creates 192,000 jobs in March
Surge in people entering labor force keeps unemployment flat at 6.7%
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The United States created 192,000 jobs in March as hiring rebounded in the early spring following a winter hiatus.
Every industry except manufacturing added to payrolls, with job gains strongest in the professional ranks and bars and restaurants, the Labor Department reported Friday. Hiring in January and February was also a combined 37,000 higher than initially estimated.
U.S. stocks (SNC:SPX) advanced after the report was released. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a seasonally adjusted increase of 200,000 nonfarm jobs.
The upswing in hiring over the past two months, meanwhile, drew more people back into the labor force, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged at 6.7%. In February, the jobless rate had risen a tick for the first time in more than a year. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-creates-1...2014-04-04
