"Sorry, I don't have a recent photograph of this particular animal. He is a human, very similar to you and I. And he's not in Africa, but he and his spouse are presently in danger of extinction. He lives in Santa Rosa and his name is Daggett. He is 75 years old and many of you might remember him as the equipment manager of the Airplane for many years. He fell in his shower 3 months ago and broke a couple of ribs. When they X-rayed him, they found a tumor in his lung. Dharma ha s been supplying him with medicine and he is responding well, but hasn't been able to work. No work = no rent. He's being evicted on Sunday. Has cancer, no money, nowhere to go, a freaked out old lady and a bunch of pets. My 67th birthday is this weekend and had planned a weekend of welcoming my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to my home. Jinna even ordered me my favorite cake: pineapple upside down. But now I'm canceling these festivities, and mobilizing my forces (mostly relatives and growers up North) to help me get their stuff in storage (I'm paying) and find them a place to lay down. I'm taking their birds (2 conures) into my tiny home (with my other 2 birds) as I have done bird rescue in the past. My wolf will totally freak them out. Do any of you have any ideas about how I can help them? Does anyone want to roll up their sleeves and actually help me save a brother? Or are you all just going to sit there in front of your laptop and cry crockadile tears about some bambi animal on another continent? His wife, Anne really needs our emotional and financial support. Her # is 707-578-8734. What are YOU going to expect YOUR friends to do when this happens to YOU? -Dr. Apel"
