NEWARK, N.J. — Dean Johnson has been appointed vice president, Small Market Sales for Prudential Group Insurance, a business of Prudential Financial, Inc (NYSE
RU). In this role he is responsible for strategy development and sales execution.
RU). In this role he is responsible for strategy development and sales execution. Johnson joins Prudential with 19 years of experience in the insurance industry, primarily managing the distribution of group insurance products and services.

Prior to joining Prudential, Johnson served as regional sales director for The Hartford's Mid-Atlantic region, managing a $450 million book of business across small, regional, and national accounts. He was also responsible for the company's sales, marketing, and service operations in eight states. Previously, Johnson spent four years with CNA as regional manager for the Charlotte group sales office, until The Hartford acquired CNA Group Benefits in 2004. He began his career with UNUMProvident as a sales representative in the Charlotte sales office.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Analysis from The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He also holds the designation of Group Benefits Disability Specialist. He will be based in Maryland.
