Royal Hawaiian Orchards, L.P. Reports Third Quarter 2013 Earnings
Marketwire - Tue Nov 05, 1:24PM CST
Royal Hawaiian Orchards, L.P. (OTCQX: NNUTU) today reported a net loss of $1.2 million, or ($0.16) per Class A Unit for the third quarter of 2013 on revenues of $4.4 million as compared to net income of $296,000, or $0.04 per Class A Unit on revenues of $6.3 million for the third quarter of 2012. This loss was attributable to: 1) 8%, or 689,000 fewer pounds WIS produced to date. Weather conditions this fall at Ka'u affected the rate and density of the mature nut drop which reduced the available pounds for harvest during the quarter. The result was the Ka'u orchard had 41% fewer pounds than the same quarter last year. A significant number of these pounds will become harvestable in the fourth quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014, 2) macadamia nuts held in inventory rather than sold as WIS, which will be sold by the Partnership for its branded products, 3) the added selling, general and administrative costs of our branded product segment, and 4) the increase in the average cost per pound based on the Partnership's lower forecasted annual production estimate and its method of accounting for interim financial purposes.

Royal Hawaiian Orchards, L.P. Reports Second Quarter 2013 Earnings
Marketwire - Wed Aug 14, 12:35PM CDT
Royal Hawaiian Orchards, L.P. (OTCQX: NNUTU) today reported a net loss of $1.2 million, or ($0.15) per Class A Unit for the second quarter of 2013 on revenues of $547,000 as compared to a net loss of $797,000, or ($0.11) per Class A Unit on revenues of $745,000 for the second quarter of 2012. The larger net loss in 2013 as compared to the same period in 2012 is attributable to no revenue from nut sales, operating losses in the branded products segment and a non-recurring severance payment. The branded segment operating losses were primarily due to trade discounts, slotting fees and selling and administrative expenses, as they seek to establish a market position since commencing sales in the fourth quarter of 2012. Poor weather conditions in the Ka'u region resulting in minimal crop yields made it uneconomic for the Partnership to harvest nuts in the second quarter of 2013. The second quarter is usually one of the year's lowest harvest periods, accounting for less than 2% of the historical average of the year's harvest. The net loss in the second quarter of 2012 was mainly attributable to non-recurring general and administrative expenses.

The net loss in 2013 was attributable to start-up, development, and other costs of the Partnership's branded products segment, which amounted to $522,000 and lower than normal first quarter macadamia nut production in its owned orchard segments, which resulted in a loss of $133,000. Its farming segment generated net income of $27,000.
