Naspers chair Ton Vosloo today announced a 28% increase in consolidated revenue to R28,8 bn for the six months ended 30 September. This growth was driven to a large extent by the offshore internet businesses and boosted by a depreciating rand. Core headline earnings, considered by the board to be an indication of sustainable earnings performance, was up 16% on the previous year to R12,48 per share (R4,9bn in total). This despite investing R3bn in developing future growth opportunities (referred to as development spend and expensed through the income statement). Positive free cash flow amounted to R787m.

Naspers Limited (JSE: NPN) (LSE: NPSN) today announced several changes to its board. Ton Vosloo, chair of Naspers, advised, "As Naspers's subsidiary MIH Holdings (Pty) Ltd (MIH) had grown to comprise the vast majority of Naspers' market capitalisation, large overlaps developed between the activities of the MIH and Naspers boards. It was decided to reconfigure the Naspers board." As part of this process Messrs. Lourens Jonker, Neil van Heerden and Prof Hein Willemse stepped down. "We thank them for their service and valuable contribution to the Naspers board," said Vosloo. Core headline earnings, considered by the board to be an indication of sustainable performance, were up 23% on the previous year to R8,5bn or R22,16 per share. Approximately half of this growth was due to a weaker rand. The growth in earnings was achieved despite investing R4,3bn to grow new businesses for the longer-term. Positive free cash flows amounted to R3,5bn. A dividend increase of 15% to R3,85 is proposed.
