With only six fundraising days left, The Salvation Army's 28 County Western Pennsylvania Division's Red Christmas Kettle Campaign is $1,280,224.55 behind its $2,729,030 goal. "We are prayerfully relying on the generosity of the last-minute shoppers," said Major William H. Bode, The Salvation Army's Western Pennsylvania Divisional Commander. "We have a strong faith both in the Lord and the kind hearts of Western Pennsylvania donors."

Thanks to the legacy of the late Paul Field, approximately 500 kids will be returning to school in style. On Saturday, August 10th, from 10:00 AM through 1:00 PM, Paul's family, friends and some very generous volunteers are hosting "The Fifth Annual Back to School Bash" for children from Natrona Heights, Natrona, Brackenridge, Tarentum, Creighton, Russelton, Deer Lakes, Indianola, Rural Ridge and Blaw Knox. "Paul Field had a heart for children and believed they all deserved an equal chance in success," said Captain Rickie Armour, The Salvation Army's Allegheny Valley Commanding Officer. Armour continued, "Paul passed away in October of 2008 and his family felt that the 'Back to School Bash' was the perfect way to honor his memory. We're delighted that UnitedHealthcare is now joining forces with us to further enhance this important community event."
