BioLargo, Inc. (OTCQB: BLGO) together with the University of Alberta has advanced its patented "advanced oxidation system" (AOS) filter to its pilot phase. The pilot follows the successful conclusion of the proof of concept and is targeted to begin in April 2014 to further develop, scale, test and commercialize the technology for use in the Athabasca Oil Sands. A key strategic initiative for the University in its efforts to develop and advance economically viable solutions for the environmental sustainability of the Canadian resources, the pilot will propel the technology from the lab into the field.

As previously announced, Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO) had engaged in discussions with respect to a potential sale of a portion of the Company's 20 percent outside-operated interest in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP) in Alberta, Canada. An agreement was not reached with the prospective purchaser and negotiations have been terminated.

KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced today that Shell Canada Energy has selected KBR to perform off-site modularization and pipe fabrication at their Edmonton Module Facility. This historic project will use Shell Quest Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies to reduce CO2 emissions at Shell's Upgrader which upgrades oil originating from Shell's Athabasca Oil Sands operations. This technology will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by capturing more than one million metric tons of CO2 per year produced during the upgrading process.
