COSTA MESA, Calif., March 7, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Morgan Drexen, a leading provider of software and support services to businesses nationwide, ( http://www.morgandrexen.com ) today shared in the American Red Cross's top honors when it was presented with the "Platinum Award" for its 127% increase in year over year blood donations by its more than 225 employees.
The Platinum level award was given to Morgan Drexen during the Red Cross's annual awards breakfast held at the Marriott hotel in Irvine California, and was in recognition of the company's substantial increase in blood donations from all three of it's employee blood drives in 2013.
"This is a completely unexpected, but wonderful award," Said Morgan Drexen CEO, Walter Ledda. "We never do any of our community relations work with the plan of winning an award, so we were literally caught completely off guard when our company was named at the highest level for our blood donations and given the Platinum Award at the American Red Cross Breakfast."
Each year the American Red Cross salutes those companies and individuals who enable them to provide life-saving blood at a time of national need, state or local need, or at the individual need level.
"You never know when or where an emergency will happen," said Red Cross Biomedical Services CEO Darrin Greenlee, speaking at the awards breakfast. "That's why we want to thank, and are humbled by, the companies, organizations, colleges, and high schools being honored this morning for the blood drives they run throughout the year – we simply can't help in an emergency without donated blood."
Morgan Drexen conducted a total of three blood drives in 2013, and have already conducted its first blood drive of 2014 on February 28 th and has several more in the pipeline.

"All of our employees really deserve a big thank you. Each time we do a blood drive, we have a great response; people come in early, stay late, and even use their lunch hours to donate blood.
