IDST's Propel Management Group Announces MCLR California's Only Path for Cannabis Legalization in 2014
Campaign Fundraising Invigorated for Concentrated Petition Effort
LAKE ELSINORE, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 26, 2014) - IDS Industries, Inc. (OTCQB: IDST) announced today that Propel Management Group (PMG), its wholly-owned subsidiary, has increased its fundraising efforts given the recent cancellation by the three other organizations promoting their own version of legislation to legalize cannabis in California in this year's general election. It was strongly noted that MCLR is now California's only cannabis legalization effort targeting the November 2014 ballot. The proponents of MCLR announced yesterday on Tuesday, February 25, they have increased their efforts to raise funds to collect another five hundred thousand valid voter signatures by the April 18th deadline, an effort lead by PMG.
"We know it can be done. The last time legalization was on the ballot the signature gathering firm collected all the signatures needed in about 2 weeks. The only thing that stands in the way of legalization in 2014 is money, and it's not a lot," said Dave Hodges, proponent & Founder of the All American Cannabis Club in San Jose. "It will take an additional two million dollars ($2,000,000) to cover the signature gathering costs." MCLR has until April 18, 2014 to submit the signatures on all the petitions to get the measure on the November 2014 ballot.
In perspective, the campaign recently launched its petition drive in conjunction with PMG at the High Times Magazine Cannabis Cup on February 8th in San Bernardino. Since the launch, PMG stated that it has experienced MCLR gaining momentum daily with support coming from volunteers and citizens statewide. As a direct result of the improved circumstances for the campaign, PMG has joined the campaign in escalating its efforts to raise the funds necessary to pay for the costs of gathering enough signatures to qualify the initiative. PMG is reaching out to the Cannabis, Music and Entertainment industries along with targeted high-value political donors to quickly provide the necessary funds so California's voters have the opportunity to legalize cannabis and spur the state with a new hemp-based industry.
PMG President, Scott Plantinga states, "Californians are tired of only hearing about jobs leaving California. MCLR allows Hemp to be grown, opening the doors to millions of new dollars in state revenues and providing jobs in the agriculture, textiles, and clothing industries as well as ancillary businesses that would support these new businesses. MCLR would be a financial victory for California on so many different fronts!"
The well regarded activist, Degé Coutee, proponent of MCLR and President of the Patient Advocacy Network (PAN) in Los Angeles, stated, "We can't wait until 2016 and the polls indicate that the voters don't want to wait. Since the Riverside decision, California is moving backwards with medical marijuana and the passage of MCLR in 201 will protect patients and collectives now."
According to Attorney General Kamala Harris, MCLR will "reduce costs potentially exceeding one hundred million dollars ($100,000,000) annually to state and local governments" related to enforcing certain marijuana-related offenses, handling the related criminal cases in the court system, and incarcerating marijuana offenders. Harris also reported MCLR will add "a few hundred million dollars annually" from additional tax revenues. MCLR stands to create thousands of jobs in California.
"It is time that we once and for all move beyond the failed policies of our country's 'war on drugs'," said Attorney, Jeffrey Collins, former U.S. State Department and White House Official. "California has long led the nation in innovative and progressive policies. I believe its residents will seize this opportunity to set an example for the nation by supporting MCLR's comprehensive, sensible, and safe approach," Collins stated.
The California Cannabis Hemp Initiative (CCHI) was unable to collect the signatures needed by their February 24th deadline, and the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) announced recently that it would wait until 2016 to seek to put a legalization initiative on the ballot. Shortly thereafter, Ed Rosenthal, proponent of the Cannabis Policy Reform Act of 2014, decided to follow their lead and "not seek signatures for the ballot."
"We have seen the negative results of the legislation passed in the state of Washington including the resulting ban on medical dispensaries," said John Lee, proponent & Founder of Americans for Policy Reform. Lee added, "MCLR is California's best hope for sensible, fair and job-friendly legislation. The polls are clear that Californians want legalization now! An additional two million dollars ($2,000,000) needs to be raised in the next three weeks. Any donation via the MCLR website will help. If ever there was a time for legalization supporters to give generously, this is it. Help us raise the funds so the necessary signatures can be collected, and spread the word in person, through Facebook, Twitter, and every other means," Lee emphasized."
