MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Chair Price called the meeting to order.
Present were: Reps. Price, Pagel, Daley, Pettalia, Somerville, Rendon, Graves, Talabi, Kosowski,
Absent and excused: Rep. Franz, Stanley, Banks.
Rep. Pettalia moved to excuse the members that were absent. The motion prevailed.
Chair Price stated that the topic for the meeting today was a discussion of blight issues.
Chair Price recognized the following people who testified concerning blight issues.
David Carroll representing Quicken Loans, VP of Miscellaneous Stuff
David J. Szymanski representing Wayne County, Chief Deputy Treasurer
Dr. KB Stallworth representing the Black Caucus Foundation of MI, Managing Director
Andy Munro representing Motor City Law
Susan Hall representing the Blight Authority, Executive Director
Jeff Adams representing the Brightmoor Alliance
Riet Schumack representing Neighbors Building Brightmoor, Co-Founder
John George representing Motor City Blight Busters, Founder
Marcus Cummings representing Schaefer 7/8 Lodge Association
Jonathan Green representing the City of Jackson
Rev. Carter Grimmett representing United Methodist Church
Justin Erickson representing the Metro Coalition of Congregations
With no further business to come before the Committee Chair Price adjourned the meeting, the
time being 4:50 p.m.
