Nationally known Tucson-based fashion resaler, Buffalo Exchange, is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a cross-country tour featuring a renovated 1969 Airstream trailer converted into a vintage pop-up shop. Buffalo Exchange locations across the country will celebrate the 40 year anniversary with special tour events, promotions, giveaways, and fun western, vintage, and unique merchandise.
When? The tour will run March 7 through May 22, 2014.

Buffalo Exchange celebrates 40 years!
Founder & President, Kerstin Block, opened the first Buffalo Exchange near the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ in 1974 with her husband, Spencer. Kerstin's focus on buying, selling, and trading fashionable and affordable clothing set the store apart from other resalers right from the beginning. Supporting the local community was also something Kerstin & Spencer believed in and it's a still a value for the company today. Every Buffalo Exchange store supports local charities in their communities through their Tokens for Bags program, which donates five cents to a local charity every time a customer opts out of taking a plastic bag. The company also holds an annual Earth Day sale in all stores to generate money for various environmental causes.
About the renovated 1969 Airstream trailer:
The 25-foot 'Land Yacht' was completely designed and refurbished in-house by Buffalo Exchange personnel at the company's headquarters in Tucson.
In keeping with the company theme of recycling, almost everything in the trailer was purchased at thrift stores, flea markets, and salvage yards. Vintage suitcases were made into shelving, a fitting tribute to both clothing and travel. Repurposed sewing items such as classic yardsticks, drawer pulls made from old thread spools, and a vintage sewing machine cabinet continue the clothing theme. The trailer's clothing racks were fashioned from plumbing pipes in tribute to the original pipe wall racks used in the first Buffalo Exchange store. Sprinkled throughout the trailer are old photographs of Kerstin and Spencer, and the early days of the stores.
Tattoo art commissioned specifically for this project was incorporated into the trailer's retro cowgirl exterior. The result is a fun and colorful trailer that captures the quirky and unique spirit of the company.

Buffalo Exchange customers can support efforts to preserve the remaining wild buffaloes in Yellowstone Park with the purchase of a limited edition 40th Anniversary Buffalo Exchange reusable tote bag made from recycled materials. The tote bag will be available for purchase in stores for $2.00 beginning March 7 and a contribution of .50 will be made to the Buffalo Field Campaign for every tote purchased during the Anniversary Tour.
