KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Visitors will have a chance to connect with Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq: CERN ) clients from around the globe at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society annual conference in Orlando, Fla.

Island Health and Hospital Marina Salud de Denia will be in Cerner's booth (6965) on Feb. 25, offering their global perspectives on health care IT. Leaders from both organizations will share their journeys to becoming paperless, their experiences partnering with Cerner and executing care across the continuum. They'll also speak to future plans, and solutions they are using for population health, including senior health.

On Feb. 26, Hospital Albert Einstein will be in Cerner's booth to discuss why they selected Cerner and the future plans in store for the organization. Cerner's global presence continued to grow in 2013 as Hospital Albert Einstein became the company's first client in Brazil. Entering the Brazilian health IT market expanded Cerner's footprint to 24 countries, with solutions licensed at more than 14,000 sites.

Cerner's clients around the globe are leading the health IT industry as they innovate and implement solutions to improve the health of their populations.

"Cerner is collaborating with global health leaders to improve efficiency, reduce costs and raise the standards of care worldwide," said Marcos Garcia, Cerner vice president of global strategy. "Close interaction with our global clients is an important source of company innovation – and benefits all Cerner clients."

Island Health, Victoria, BC, Canada

Island Health delivers services to more than 750,000 residents, clients, and patients across their continuum of care on Vancouver Island, the islands of the Georgia Strait, Salish Sea, and mainland communities north of Powell River and south of Rivers Inlet. Island Health opened the Oceanside Health Centre in 2013, offering ambulatory, urgent care and chronic disease management services, among others.

On Feb. 25 in Cerner's booth, a team from Island Health will share their care-across-the-continuum and population health journey.

Hospital Marina Salud, Dénia, Spain

Hospital Marina Salud currently has one inpatient facility with 211 physicians and 226 nurses. In 2012, Marina Salud became the first Spanish hospital to achieve HIMSS Stage 7, and is now paperless with the information of its 200,000 patients accessible throughout its network.

While in Cerner's booth on Feb. 25, representatives from Hospital Marina Salud will share their journey to HIMSS Stage 7 and becoming completely paperless, including metrics showing return on investment.
