Business Model : The Company's business model is focused on four separate business initiatives: Sustainable Forestry & Timber Operations; Biomass Development; Production & Revenue generation from carbon credits; and Proprietary Programs that enhance their Commitment to Local Communities & their People and Unique Initiatives that protect the integrity and biodiversity of their land's ecosystem.
Mission: To become the leading innovator of sustainable forest management and generate profit while protecting the biodiversity of the rain forest ecosystem and enhancing the lives of the people who live in it.
The company intends to preserve these properties through UN REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation & Forest Degradation) incentive programs , while selectively harvesting their resources through sustainable, "green," government-approved forest management projects. Toward this end, the Company has entered into a strategic relationship with Carbon Forest Group, a financial management Company that is charged with the development and monetization of Carbon Credits through Sustainable Forest Management (SFM), Agro Forestry, and/or R.E.D.D.
Sustainable Forest Management : Amazonas Florestal's sustainable forest management strategy, with its selective method of harvesting timber for the production and commercialization of wood products, targets deforestation, which is one of the primary causes of global warming. Additionally, the Company's strategy rehabilitates ecosystems through habitat and water resource preservation. They make preservation profitable .
REDD Carbon Credit Incentives : The R educed E missions from D eforestation and forest D egradation program is a UN-led initiative aimed at incentivizing the global community to protect its forests. The Company is taking the necessary steps to quantify and certify the carbon "sink" that conserving the vast majority of its land will create.
Clean Energy : A natural by-product from timber production is biomass, which is traditionally discarded as waste wood. the Company plans to recycle this material and convert it into renewable energy. This will create revenues through the direct sale of the energy generated, as well as the Carbon Credit offsets created by this type of activity. In 2012, the Company will conduct a feasibility study for the installation and operation of a thermal energy plant.
