Welcome Kenstick. I will try this one, but Cool and the gang have a better explanation. DTL has put up links about how NSS or Naked Short Selling held Overstock.com down even after they were cash flow positive. When the hedge funds short TECO they sell very small lots most of the time just to paint the tape. Shorting is one thing, but NSS is like printing money. When the sell a naked short share they never borrowed the share because it never existed. So they have created a share and diluted the share structure and painted the tape all in one. They will never have to cover because the share was not borrowed, therefore there is no margin cost. I hope this helps and if I have missed something maybe Cool, Jake, CEO, DTL, dloggold, or some of the other traders that are better at it than me can correct me. And it is not GEAUX TECO it is ROLL TECO ROLL
