AtHoc Appoints Former ExxonMobil Executive Dan Nelson to Strategic Advisory Board

SAN MATEO, Calif., Feb. 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AtHoc, Inc ., the leader in network-centric interactive crisis communication systems, today announced it has appointed Dan Nelson to the company's Strategic Advisory Board. Nelson has 33 years' experience in the international energy industry and will help advise and guide AtHoc's continued growth in industrial markets, particularly the energy and chemical sectors.

Nelson spent 33 years with ExxonMobil Corporation. Upon the 1999 merger of Exxon and Mobil, Nelson was named chairman and chief executive officer of ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia, based in Riyadh, a position he held until 2004. Nelson then served as a corporate vice president directing the company's government relations efforts from 2004 to 2009. Nelson began his career at Mobil Corporation in 1976 in the supply and trading area and, at Mobil, held a variety of management roles related to the Middle East, liquefied natural gas and power development, and supply and oil trading, living and working in New York City, London, Washington, D.C. and Houston.

"It is our privilege to welcome Dan to AtHoc's Strategic Advisory Board," said Guy Miasnik, president and CEO of AtHoc. "His insights on international business and the industrial market will be a tremendous asset for advising AtHoc on how to help global organizations ensure the safety of their employees, community and environment."

"I can speak from personal experience that those working in the heavy industry sector confront any number of potential hazards on a daily basis," said Nelson. "AtHoc offers expertise and technology that are critical for large organizations to protect the lives of their employees, the integrity of their facilities and the communities where they work and live on a global basis. I want to support that process and hope my involvement will help AtHoc continue to expand and grow into new markets around the world."

Nelson currently is a managing partner of International Strategic Insights, a Washington, D.C.-based advisory firm that he and several partners founded in 2009. Nelson is also a director of the Energy Policy Research Foundation and serves as vice chairman of Mentor Foundation USA. He has, in the past, co-chaired the Director's Council for the American Strategy Program at the New America Foundation and served as chair of the Smart Grid/Electric Vehicles Working Group for the Chesapeake Crescent Initiative. Nelson has also served as vice chairman of the US-GCC Corporate Cooperation Committee, chair of the BIPAC Prosperity Project and as a director of American Near East Refugee Aid, Meridian International Center, Arena Stage, the Middle East Policy Council and the American Petroleum Institute. Nelson earned a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and an M.S. from George Washington University. Prior to entering the private sector, he was an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
