Wow, that article has many lives.

If what I've read is true, this was a hoax that originated on the RagingB site in 2000. I think I found a reference to it here: http://www.thestreet.com/tech/internet/1165692.html

Slight variations have circulated, including this one. Note that the original name of the company was Franklin Andrews Kramer & Edelstein . (F-A-K-E). I think this company recently popped up on the DU*S board, as well.
