I looked up the Whale who phoned me on Friday.
He owns beauty/health spas in Manhattan (2nd Avenue), California, and Florida. His daughter owns cafes in those some states - right next door to dad's places.
I saw the house he owned in Florida in 2005 and sold for a $300k loss (on paper). It was a nice house, but nothing overly impressive. My gut feeling is that he has come a LONG way in the last 8 years. He is 41.
My personal opinion - I think this guy is serious. I am pleased that he will commit to bring Baltia to completion, but I am so much more pleased that part of the deal is that he is going to "watch" how and where the $ is spent.
He was not overly happy with the way Igor has been supervising the company. He actually spoke with me last Tuesday about replacing him.
That being said, it looks like right now his plans are to carefully guide Baltia along the way - treat it like a business, which is exactly what Igor was supposed to be doing.
Very successful man in the Beauty/HealthSpa/Fashion and Apparel Industry - let's hope he can bring "businessman smarts" to this Airline and finally get BLTA to where it is supposed to be.
All along my biggest complaint was that Igor failed to focus on creating "value" in BLTA - by staying silent and not "selling" the story that is Baltia. He has done ZERO to promote this company.
Personally, I think things are about to change.................................
