Identity protection is about protecting your identity from those who wish to bring harm to you, your family, your property, your finances, your reputation. Please do not fall for the line that "I have nothing to hide". While that is admirable that is not the point or concern. I'm sure you would not want others gaining access to your finances or the addresses of where your children go to school or where they play.
Please don't be naive. This is not about protection of criminals. This is 100% about protection FROM the criminals.
Everything in sales is about perception. You can be sold any and everything with the proper presentation. When you say I have nothing to hide its because that is the angle under which you can be manipulated.
The government and politicians are salesman. They use the news to pander their agenda to the viewer using false pretense. No one goes around beating people over the head unless they have a hidden agenda that is being perpetrated while everyone focuses on the "getting hit over the head story".
The old saying of believe none of what you hear and 1/2 of what you see applies.
Good people are 10x more vulnerable because they trust people and expect that others are inherently good at heart. Well some people are rotten to the core and only wish to deceive you. You need to be skeptical and vigilant. It will protect you.
