TechCollect targeting B2B e-waste in 2014
TechCollect is targeting the large volumes of computer and IT waste generated by the corporate world in 2014, as it shifts its operational strategy to a business to business (B2B) focus for the year ahead.
According to TechCollect channel manager, Sonya Blondinau, those medium to large businesses generating high volumes of e-waste will receive special attention, as they struggle with appropriate strategies for safely and efficiently disposing of unwanted IT.
Chief executive officer (CEO), Carmel Dollisson, said TechCollect’s goal for 2014 is to grow the availability of its free recycling services to the public, while allowing the IT and television manufacturers - which are the company’s members - to meet their obligations.
"A strategic focus on medium to large business alongside maintaining consumer and small business e-waste collection momentum will achieve that goal," claims Dollisson.
The move is a result of what TechCollect said was a highly successful collection rate in 2013. The service over-achieved its television collection target for 2012 and 2013 under the Australian Government’s National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS), and earned the Guinness World Record for most consumer electronics collected in a seven-day period, totalling 474,000 kilograms.
Additionally, TechCollect recovered more than 90 percent of raw materials of all e-waste gathered in 2013.
