In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of recycling electronics amongst Singaporeans, Weecycling SG and StarHub has launched the StarHub Bin Design Competition.
Participants can submit their designs for e-waste collection bins to stand a chance of winning an iPad Mini with Retina display or a cash prize of S$100 (US$78). Designs, together with completed contest forms which can be downloaded here , should be sent to weecycling.sg@gmail.com by 10 February 2014.
Winners of the competition will be announced at the "Let's Not Forget About E-waste" exhibition, which will be held from 20 to 23 February 2014 at Funan DigitaLife Mall.
The exhibition will display information on e-waste as well as e-waste recycling bins designed by local celebrities such as Bobby Tonelli from Class 95 and The Muttons (Justin Ang and Venon A) from 987FM. Sculptures made of e-waste will also be on display. Visitors are encouraged to take photos of them and upload them to Instagram with the hashtag #WEESNAP to stand a chance of winning prizes.
Weecyling SG is a group comprising four students from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, who run the "Let's Not Forget About E-waste" campaign. The campaign aims to educate Singaporeans on electronic waste and encourage them to responsibly dispose their end-of-life electronics.
